It is with great joy and excitement that the Palm Valley Animal Center Puppy Love Committee prepares for our 3rd Annual Puppy Love Gala which is just around the corner on February 4th! This exciting event will take place at the McAllen Convention Center located on Ware Road in McAllen from 6:00 – 10:00pm.

This year’s event will include a live and silent auction, open bar and dinner and a very special guest speaker, Tamar Geller at this elegant, charitable event. Tamar Geller is a former Israeli army intelligence officer and owner of The Loved Dog, a Los Angeles-based company that trains and cares for canines; counseling the pedigreed pets of Hollywood. Geller will be an excellent addition to the Puppy Love line up and will definitely share stories you will not want to miss. Her passion is evident in her everyday work and in her own words states, “Dogs are a tremendous gift to the world! They are amazingly sensitive, intuitive creatures with the remarkable power to transform the lives of the humans they touch. They have the uncanny ability to understand humans, working side-by-side with us and sharing our lives. In my world, we celebrate dogs! People are emotionally invested in their dogs, and don’t regard them as disposable accessories or toys for their children. We raise our voices for the millions of the voiceless dogs around the world, improving their quality of life and putting an end to their senseless mistreatment and death. As a life coach for dogs and their people, I have dedicated myself to providing insight to millions of dog lovers with my unique method, The Loved Dog, for building a relationship based on games, clear communication, respect and love. I am devoted to capturing the individuality of each and every dog and celebrating the magic in them.”

This event is not to be missed and is a wonderful opportunity not only for a superb night out but for our community to contribute to an organization that strives for the humane treatment of animals in the Rio Grande Valley.

Please feel free to visit Tamar Geller’s website at www.tamargeller.com and for more information about Puppy Love or to purchase tickets please contact Palm Valley Animal Center at (956) 686-1141.

Palm Valley Animal Center would like to invite everyone out to our 5th Annual Fall Festival and Microchip Event on November 19, 2011 from 10am – 5pm, with our microchip clinic from 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm. This event is designed to allow the public to bring their family out and enjoy live entertainment, raffles, games and a county market atmosphere that is sure to provide a great family outing for any family PLUS bring their pets and have them microchipped for only $10. There will be plenty of fun and games for the whole family to include a sumo wrestling ring, a moon jump and a family picture station. In addition we will also have a dunking booth with Channel 5’s very own Alan Shoemaker making an appearance along with an entertainment stage to include live music by Texas Reign, Tim’s Myth, Barbed Wire and the Gonzalez Grizzly choir, just to name a couple.

Not familiar with a microchip? A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and consists of a tiny computer chip housed in a type of glass made to be compatible with living tissue. The microchip is implanted between your pet’s shoulder blades under the skin; the process is similar to getting a shot. Little to no pain is experienced – most animals do not seem to even feel it being implanted. Once in place, the microchip can be detected immediately with a handheld device that uses radio waves to read the chip. This device scans the microchip, and then displays a unique alphanumeric code. Once the microchip is placed, the animal will be registered with 24-Hour PetWatch and your pet can be traced back to you if found.
Palm Valley Animal Center receives over 40,000 animals a year, and sadly, approximately 37,000 of those animals are humanely euthanized. Please join us as we strive to increase the amount of animals that can successfully be reunited with their owners in the event they are lost or brought into a shelter. Remember that collars and tags can be easily removed, but a microchip cannot.
This event is open to the public so please join us on November 19, 2011 from 10am – 5pm.
If you would like more information about our 5th Annual Fall Festival & Microchip Event or you would like to sign up as a vendor please contact us at (956) 686-1141 or stop by the center at 2501 West Trenton Road, Edinburg Texas 78539. If you are interested in adopting a new companion you can always view a complete list of available adoptable pets on our website 24-hours a day at www.pvaconline.com.
