Palm Valley Animal Center & The Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center offers internships to qualified undergraduate and graduate candidates interested in a variety of fields.  Interns gain hands-on experience while working on challenging projects, networking with professionals and learning from some of the most passionate and hardworking individuals in our industry.  The duties and responsibilities of an intern vary by department.

The intern may work during the summer, fall or spring college semester, full-time or part-time, based on the availability and business needs. Interns are located at Palm Valley Animal Center or The Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center, both located in Edinburg, TX.

SUMMER Semester Internship (May – August)
Deadline: APPLY NOW
Priority Application Period from January through March 15th
Priority Review Period is March-April

FALL Semester Internship (September – December)
Priority Application Period from May through July 15th
Review Period is July-August

SPRING Semester Internship (January – May)
Priority Application Period from September through November 15th
Review Period is November-December

  • Enroll as a student at an accredited college or university
  • Undergraduate/Graduate major related to our industry and/or the internship
  • Must have a minimum of a 2.5 out of 4.0 overall grade point average
  • At least (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher and/or advisor
  • Letter of intent (1000 words max)

Preferred Skills 

  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Creative
  • Bilingual – Spanish/English preferred

Resumes will be accepted according to the dates above. Any resumes submitted after those dates will be reviewed after those who applied during the priority period. Top candidates will be interviewed by department mentors. If you are selected for our internship program, the specific date will be determined at a later time.

Securing housing and transportation during the internship is the responsibility of the intern, PVAC/PAWS cannot offer support in this area.
